Course aim

To provide basic information and areas of responsibility for health, safety and the environment.
To understand the implications of hazard recognition/risk assessment and effects on individuals and the employer.
To demonstrate how individual behaviour can help reduce accidents.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course delegates will have the knowledge to:

• Demonstrate their understanding of the subjects by successfully completing each module assessment paper
• Appreciate how they personally can influence good standards within health, safety & the environment
• Understand the value of risk assessment and have the knowledge to recognise when change to a generic assessment is required
• Understand the common hazards associated with work.
  
  

MODULE 1 – Induction and security

Will give delegates an understanding of why site inductions are given, what may be included in induction and what information is needed before work can commence.

MODULE 2 – Transport, heavy vehicles and cranes

On completion of this module delegates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of hazards and risks posed by vehicles and cranes on site to both the operatives and pedestrians.

MODULE 3 – Access and working at height

On completion of this module delegates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the hazards associated with working at height.

MODULE 4 – Hazardous substances / materials

On completion of this module delegates will have a good understanding of hazardous substances / materials and the process by which they should be dealt with, including asbestos.

MODULE 5 – Confined space

On completion of this module delegates will have an awareness of working safely in, and the hazards involved with, confined space working / duties.

MODULE 6 – Machinery and tools

On completion of this module delegates will have an understanding of the hazards and risk posed when working with machinery and tools.

MODULE 7 – The environment

The module covers current and future environmental requirements, safe storage and marking, waste control hierarchies and emergency planning in the event of problems.

The Safety Pass Alliance work with employers, employer associations, Trade Unions, NTOs and other relevant bodies to design and develop training programmes tailored to suit each sector.
