Course aim
To provide basic information and areas of responsibility for health, safety and the environment To understand the implications of hazard recognition/risk assessment and effects on individuals and the employer To demonstrate how individual behaviour can help reduce accidents.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course delegates will have the knowledge to:
MODULE 1 – Asbestos awareness
This session will provide a full understanding of all forms of asbestos encountered in the industrial sector.
MODULE 2 – Confined Spaces
The module will introduce confined space regulations, associated hazards, examples of confined spaces, control measure, risk assessment and permits and emergency procedures.
MODULE 3 - The environment
The module covers current and future environmental requirements, safe storage and marking, waste control hierarchies and emergency planning in the event of problems.
MODULE 4 – Legionella awareness
On completion of this module delegates will understand what is legionella, causes and effects, where is legionella found, how legionella can be controlled.
MODULE 5 – Tools and equipment
The session will give delegates an understanding of the risks presented by both powered and non powered work equipment and the risks associated with the various forms of energy created.
MODULE 6 – Pressure systems safety
On completion of this module delegates will understand what is a pressure system, pressure vessels, schemes of examination, isolation and water hammer.
MODULE 7 – Working at height
The module will discuss in detail the hazards associated with all form of access and egress including the importance of the risk assessment process, the safe use of ladders and stepladders, the use of scaffolding including erection and dismantling, the use of both scaffold towers and mobile scaffold towers and working on roofs, confined spaces and excavations. The Safety Pass Alliance work with employers, employer associations, Trade Unions, NTO and other relevant bodies to design and develop training programmes tailored to suit each sector.
