Course aim
To provide information and training relevant to the sector in respect of concerns for health, safety and the environment.
To understand the implications for cost, business, job security and risk of injury if concerns for the environment and health and safety are not properly considered.
Learning outcomes
On completion of the course delegates will have the knowledge to:
MODULE 1 – Safe system of work
Will give candidates an overview of key health & safety: legal requirements, hazard and risk, risk assessment, training and competence; and an understanding of vehicle maintenance and driver protection.
MODULE 2 – Collecting and delivering safely
On completion of this session candidates will understand the importance of journey planning, vehicle checking, stress, safe loading/unloading and securing of vehicles, unit access/exit, catwalk work, steel handling operations site safety, safe parking, safe driving and general site information and risks.
MODULE 3 – Workplace rules
On completion of this session candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of the security in general, pedestrian segregation, signs and site rules, safe access and exit, work environment and lighting.
MODULE 4 – Workplace safety
On completion of this session candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of slips and trips, housekeeping, falls and ppe.
MODULE 5 – Manual and mechanical handling
On completion of this session candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of manual handling, safe loading and unloading and equipment maintenance.
MODULE 6 – Dealing with accidents
On completion of this session candidates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of accident reporting and welfare and hygiene.
