Course aim

To provide basic information and areas of responsibility for health, safety and the environment
To understand the implications of hazard recognition/risk assessment and effects on individuals and the employer
To demonstrate how individual behaviour can help reduce accidents.

Learning outcomes

On completion of the course delegates will have the knowledge to:

• Demonstrate their understanding of the subjects by successfully completing each module assessment paper
• Appreciate how they personally can influence good standards within health, safety & the environment
• Understand the value of risk assessment and have the knowledge to recognise when change to a generic assessment is required
• Understand the common hazards associated with work.
  
  

MODULE 1 – Workplace systems

This session will introduce the use of paperwork – risk assessments, permits, authorisation, checking procedures and its importance in terms of safe systems of work. Good manufacturing practice and the stringent rules governing this industry.

MODULE 2 – Product protection and GMP

This session will introduce the different types of contamination, how these are spread and the measures that can be used to prevent product contamination. The importance of personal hygiene in the prevention of contamination and of clean rooms.

MODULE 3 – Environmental protection

This session will introduce the forms of pollution, their sources and effects, the legislation that covers them and the types of pollution controls, specialist regulations, waste disposal and special waste.

MODULE 4 – Workplace hazards

This session examines what makes a safe place of work, safe behaviour, hidden services and specific hazards, working at height, asbestos and confined spaces and permit-to-work.

The Safety Pass Alliance work with employers, employer associations, Trade Unions, NTO and other relevant bodies to design and develop training programmes tailored to suit each sector.
